8/1/2014 Humminbird 2D sonar palettes On August 01, 2014

You have a few choices for the Humminbird 2D sonar. The different palettes have different colors for echo strength. Weak echo from small or soft targets reflect less sound and your Humminbird displays the difference.

The original palette uses these colors with the strongest on the top of the list.

  • Red
  • Yellow
  • Green
  • Blue

Notice the color bar on the right which shows the different colors in order of strength of the echo. A quick way to figure out the colors is look at the bottom colors. The strongest color will be at the top and the weakest at the bottom.

I also like the yellow/red/blue palette since I have used it for years with my Lowrance models.

Yellow is the strongest echo and blue the weakest.

You can use the colors to determine fish size but always look at the thickness of the fish arch since that also determines size. Thin arches=small fish.

The fish in the 2 above images are what I call "catchable and edible fish".
