Finding Fish Near the Bottom with Sonar Posted on June 01, 2013

If you can’t find fish near the bottom with sonar - you can’t catch them!  I will show you one way to find hidden fish.

Fish close to the bottom are sometimes displayed as bumps. You have 2 ways to decide if a bump on the bottom is a fish. You can drop an underwater camera or use high definition color sonar. Fish return weaker echoes so they display a different color than the bottom depending on the setting of your colorline and sensitivity.

Let’s backtrack momentarily, though, and profile the man his peers call Doc. He is actually Dr. Bruce Samson, M.D., a medical doctor who resides in Minnetrista, Minn., a western suburb of Minneapolis. He began practicing family medicine in 1976 and swung to urgent care and the emergency room in 1991.

Google Earth and Lowrance Waypoints Posted on May 08, 2013

You view your Lowrance waypoints on Google Earth. Google Earth has satellite images of Earth that you can zoom in and see lakes and rivers. This is another way to view where you placed your waypoints on a different map than on your Lowrance GPS map.

Some images can show weed lines and shallow rocks. By placing waypoints on Google Earth can mark fishing spots for future use.
